TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) is called thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber. It is mainly divided into polyester type and polyether type. It has a wide hardness range (60HA-85HD), wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency, and good elasticity. It is widely used in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials, etc. Halogen-free flame-retardant TPU can also replace soft PVC to meet environmental protection requirements in more and more fields.
The so-called elastomer refers to a polymer material with a glass transition temperature lower than room temperature, an elongation at break > 50%, and better recovery after external force is removed. Polyurethane elastomer is a relatively special category of elastomers. Polyurethane elastomers have a wide range of hardness and performance. Therefore, polyurethane elastomers are a type of polymer material between rubber and plastic.
Main features:
1. Wear resistance: TPU plastic material has excellent wear resistance, which is more than five times that of natural rubber. It is one of the preferred materials for wear-resistant products.
2. Tensile properties: the tensile strength is as high as 70MPa, and the elongation at break can be as high as 1000%.
3. Tear performance: TPU has high tear resistance, and the tear strength is very excellent compared with some commonly used rubber and plastic.
4. Inflection performance: TPU products can maintain excellent inflection resistance characteristics in different environments, which is one of the best choices among polymer materials.
5. Hydrolysis resistance: TPU is one of the reasons why TPU is suitable as an environmentally friendly material. For products that need to be in constant contact with water, it is recommended to use polyether series.
6. Anti-high temperature and anti-oxidation properties: General plastic raw materials are easy to oxidize in the environment above 70 °C for a long time, and TPU has good anti-oxidation ability; generally speaking, the temperature resistance of TPU can reach 120 °C.
7. Oil resistance and chemical resistance: TPU is a highly polar polymer material, which is hardly eroded in fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oil (such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, lubricating oil, etc.);
8. Low-temperature performance: TPU has very good low-temperature resistance, usually reaching -50°C, and is especially suitable for products related to cold regions.
9. Air tightness: TPU is very easy to weld by high frequency or hot pressing, so it is widely used in inflatable products.
10. Biomedical properties: TPU has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxic, non-allergic, non-local irritation, and non-pyrogenic, so it is widely used in medical, health and other related products
